  a note from Bob...

It might interest you all to know that no later than January ‘04 my first actual book will be out.  The as-yet-unnamed collection of short stories will be issued by Wind Publications, and I am quite pleased by this development.

If anyone will be in the Rowan County area in the next couple weeks, I am scheduled to do two readings locally and would love for you to stop and say hello!

On Thursday, February 13, it's my day at the several-months' long series of readings at the Kentucky Folk Art Center in Morehead.  My co-reader will be Jared Salyers, a graduate student at Morehead State University and a fine poet.  Jared is the grandson of Paul Salyers, former Kentucky Poet Laureate.  The reading begins at 7:30PM and lasts about two hours.

Saturday, February 22, Frontier Housing is doing a fund raiser at the Fuzzy Duck Coffee Shop on First Street in Morehead.  The benefits go to help build housing for folks who ordinarily couldn't afford to.

The formal program will begin at noon and go until 6:00, with eight separate "acts" scheduled (I read beginning at 2PM) but Frontier will have an informational table at the Fuzzy Duck all day, and will be accepting donations throughout.  The Fuzzy Duck will donate all tips collected for the day to Frontier.

The idea of using poetry and prose for entertainment at a fund raiser is pretty novel, far as I'm concerned.  I think  - - and I'd say this even if I weren't on the menu - -  writers ought to at least stop in for this thing, tip the coffee servers a buck and help out Frontier Housing.

If you have questions about any of the above, please email me for more information.

Thanks.
Bob

a message from the webmissus:

Regarding Bob Sloan's Sampler, I am putting a new MP3 of Bob's local radio commentaries on the site each week.  Due to lack of space, I can store three, maybe four of these sound files at a time and will be rotating the old ones off the site weekly, to make room for the new.

This is your chance to hear those radio commentaries you may have missed, which are stored nowhere else on or off the web!  In the future we may have collections available on cassette or CD, but, that's the future.  I won't be doing a weekly mailing announcing the MP3 changes,  :)  I'll email this list only when Bob has some major announcement.

Any advice or suggestions regarding this mailing or the website layout, should be directed to me.   ...and of course, if you'd rather not receive future mailings, all you have to do is tell me.

Thanks,
Julie
